Your personal care routine

Our individual hygiene treatment includes detailed information on oral hygiene at home as well as specific steps for preventative treatment in the dental practice. These steps are selected in accordance with your personal requirements.

Our mouth is home to a wide variety of microorganisms. The large majority of them are harmless and fulfil an important role in protecting us from germs.  If however there is an imbalance in our immune system certain more harmful microorganisms are able to gain the upper hand.

Too much sugar in our food leads to a rapid increase in such acid producing bacteria as Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillen. If these bacteria are not stopped they produce a dangerous layer of plaque on our teeth. This leads to caries, gum disease and periodontitis.  Our saliva, which usually protects our teeth, can no longer do its job.

It is impossible to eliminate plaque completely but every one of us is able to influence the amount and the extent of plaque in our mouths simply by sticking to three simple rules: Meticulous oral hygiene, eating the right foods for your teeth and visiting the dentist for regular check-ups and hygiene treatment.
